# LMCAD > LMCAD is an agentic CAD system. An engineer writes down what a part has to do, > and LMCAD designs the geometry, validates it by running the engineering analysis > itself, checks it can be manufactured, and produces the drawings, bill of > materials and report with the supporting evidence attached, ready for a design > engineer to review, sign off and release to a shop. Simulation is not the > product; it is how the agent proves its own work. It runs locally on the > customer's own machine and never uploads their designs. ## What it is - **Category:** agentic CAD design, validation and documentation. Design automation, not a simulation package. - **Input:** requirements in plain language, such as loads, mounting interfaces, envelope, material, quantity and manufacturing process. - **Output:** parametric parts, multi-part assemblies, analysis results, dimensioned drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials, inspection sheets and an engineering report. - **Platforms:** Windows, macOS and Linux. Command line. Capable of running fully air-gapped. - **Best suited to:** engineering teams with no simulation specialist and no dedicated drafter on staff, and any team with more parts to design than hours available. Machine builders, contract manufacturers, aerospace and defence suppliers, product companies and consultancies. - **What it removes from the workload:** sizing calculations, setting up and running analysis, drafting, dimensioning, bills of materials and inspection paperwork. No FEA or CAD drafting expertise is required to use it. ## How it validates the design Analysis is the evidence behind the design, not the deliverable. The agent chooses the study, sets the boundary conditions, meshes the part and judges whether the result can be trusted, then attaches the working to the report. - Structural: stress, deflection, safety factor, plasticity, contact, large deflection, bolt preload. - Dynamics: natural frequencies and mode shapes, harmonic response, impact, buckling. - Acoustics: sound radiated by a vibrating structure, coupled vibroacoustic analysis, interior acoustic fields. - Thermal: steady and transient heat transfer, conduction, convection, radiation, coupled thermal-structural. - Fluids and aerodynamics: internal flow, pressure drop, external aerodynamics with drag and lift, fans and rotating machinery, conjugate cooling. - Electromagnetic: motor torque, cogging, back-EMF, losses, magnetic circuits, induction heating. - Motion: range-of-motion sweeps, interference detection, multibody dynamics, joint reactions fed back as load cases. - Optimisation: shape and weight optimisation driven by the analysis result. ## What makes it different - **It reports what it could not evaluate.** A requirement it cannot answer is marked "not evaluated", never passed. A missing answer is treated as a finding. - **Results are cross-checked.** Every solve is compared against an independently derived closed-form estimate, and mesh convergence is demonstrated rather than assumed. Disagreement halts the run. - **Designs never leave the customer's machine.** Geometry, requirements and results stay local. LMCAD does not train on customer work. - **Output is traceable.** Every figure in a report links to the run that produced it, with the assumptions listed. - **A person signs off.** LMCAD verifies; it does not release. Releasing a design carries responsibility software cannot hold. ## Availability LMCAD is in beta and still being built. What can be booked today is a demo on a part the customer already has drawings for.
